New Training Game

hello,
thanks for making the best website on earth. . i'm not a programmer and not sure how involved these things are, however, have an idea for another training game. i have just begun trying to train my skills for blindfold chess. the coordinates training is excellent way to help visualize squares on the board, but next step should be to know what color they are. is it possible to make a training session game that asks what color a square is? i.e. e4 pops up and then you need to click on the light or dark square next to it and this continues until you go thru the entire board or half the board or something.
thanks,
variable over and out
That's a great idea!

However, I'm confused as to how you would like to see this implemented.

"i.e. e4 pops up and then you need to click on the light or dark square next to it and this continues until you go thru the entire board or half the board or something."

Not sure I understand that. If it were implmeneted like that, then you would be able to choose any 4 of 8 squares and succeed! The odds seem a bit too good to be effective for training.

I reckon it would be better it had modes focused on specific ranks, e.g. 2 and 3, 4 and 5, and so on. That's how many chess books seem to approach discussion on square colours.

More ideas on this are welcome.
i'm sure you'll come up with something better than i'm thinking, however, this is what i was thinking. i'll try to articulate better this time.

for instance, there is a blank box that can hold coordinates(perhaps 10 or 20 stacked vertically). next to the box there is a light colored square and a dark colored square and you need to click on the correct color of the corresponding coordinate.(maybe the dark and light colors are randomly placed so they're not always in the same spot). so, say you click start and d5 appears in the box you need to click the dark or light colored square (for d5 the light square would be correct) and then another coordinate appears and you repeat procedure.
appears there's no edit feature(perhaps another request?). the square color could be set up the same as coordinates. get as many correct as you can in 30 seconds and your graph appears to the left.
I imagine one way to do "square color training" is: display a 2x2 board (white corner in the lower-right) and flash coordinate names as usual. Give credit if the user can click on the correct color square for a coordinate name.
yeah, i kind of like this idea. keep the same theme as coordinates training... once you hit start you get thirty seconds and the notation pops up and you need to click on the light or dark color complex and it's either correct or incorrect. and you can see notation for the pending square.

OR this. just thought of this. possibly link up coordinates and color complexes. an 8 x 8 board with only outlines, no colors. e4 pops up and you need to pick the location and also the color until you have created a a board with all light and dark squares. actually, this wouldn't work. once you hit one color the others would not be very difficult to predict. but maybe a variation of this.
thanks for the link droogans. have used the coordinates training tool and i think its fantastic. it has helped my analysis considerably, especially when reading thru chess books with annotations and/or explanations with notation. i think learning the color of squares without needing to think would take analysis to even a higher level.
