Not resigning etiquette

Say you play an opponent and he chooses not to resign, when he has a only a king and you have overwhelming material. And you have plenty of time not to stalemate him +30 seconds.

Now to my question, is it considered rude if you choose to take your time to mate him? For instance promote several queens etc..

I ask this after being called filho de puta, and thought to ask what the community thinks about this.
No, that is your opponent's punishment for not resigning.
How valuable is your time might provide a clue.
If you have time to waste, promoting to extra Queens is frivolous.
Ten Knights I say !
It's your move, so you can make whatever legal move you want.
He can resign whenever he wants to... but it's also ok if he wants to play it till the end...
The only behavior that bothers me is when I blunder in time pressure, and we both know I had a better position, and the guy starts adding seconds to me... hah... but whatever, I managed to win plenty of those situations and that can really make my day. Shame I don't have them on record...
no i don't think it's considered rude

i mean they can choose to end the agony by resigning
I would say that is poor sportsmanship. Just end the game. You don't need to rub your opponent's nose in it just for playing.
There are lots of surprises in chess game am especially under fast time controls. Players frequently spoil totally won positions by blunders. Sometimes it's possible to win hopeless positions on time. Not resigning and playing up to checkmate is completely reasonable. But some players decide to use all their time on last move before checkmate. In tournament conditions, sometimes I berserk games, obtain a winning position quickly but my opponent stalls and forces me to wait until there is like 2 seconds remaining on the opponent's clock, then the player moves and gets checkmated. That does not let me to play more games to try to achieve better standings in lichess tournaments. Can anyone teach me how to deal with players who do this?
If your opponent insists on wasting your time, maybe hoping you'll blunder into stalemate or lose on a flaky internet connection, then it's up to you how to spend that time. Sometimes I will set myself a mini-challenge and underpromote, try to see how many queens I can get on the board without stalemating, try to deliver checkmate with a pawn or otherwise make it fun for myself. Turn your opponent's jackassery into your own entertainment. But the best is on sites where you have unlimited premoves and can premove your checkmate sequence, go and make a cup of tea and come back to the victory screen at your leisure.
