takebacks

Why do players that are higher rated than me so often ask for a takeback after they blunder? Allso, when I get a winning position, so many of them just let the time run. This is very poor sportsmanship.
Disable takebacks and this issue will disappear forever. As for stalling the clock, put the pressure in them with chat messages provoking them to resign, like "Resign" or "Why don't you resign?".
Yes, this advice is technically correct but I think that he meant about his opponent mentality
Why?
Because they don't like to lose in my opinion
I give em for obvious mouse slips only and ask for them only for mouse slips. Kinda pisses me off when people dont grant them tbh because I play to enjoy a quality game, not for a few rating points. And with a 10 0 time control there is plenty of time to take back obvious mouse slips. But ratings-grubbers are certainly within their rights to insist on no takebacks. Whatever floats their boats.

Pour a glass of wine, recline in your chair and savour your victory as the time ticks down.

Is there a feature to filter games where we give opponents chance to take back ? I have one where I gave my opponent takeback twice in the same game, not for mouse or finger slip, and I still managed to win.
Deactivate takebacks in rated games and activate it only in casual games. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do about stalling in games. It is a huge problem, especially in classical chess. So far there is no way of finding out if somebody is really thinking about a position or stalling. Personally I think there should be an automated force resignation after a certain amount of time passed (e.g. 15 minutes) in a losing position or keep asking the player if they are stalling or not. There should be more awareness about this topic, until then make the best out of it.

There are not just rating-grabbers. I used to grant everyone takebacks and when I asked for a takeback myself against them in the same game, they denied. This wasn't just once or twice, it always happened. So in the end the ones that asked for takebacks were the true rating-grabbers. Since then I deactivated it forever.
