2.1 million dollar hat

Ok, someone explain the logic... Recently a hat worn by Napoleon was sold at auction for 2.1 million dollars.

What is going on here?

It's.....a....HAT! ..... Felt and fabric, ....why on earth do people care to own it? Unless you are planning to try to extract some Napoleon DNA and clone him, what on earth would someone do with a 2.1 million dollar hat except put it behind glass an look at it?

Am I the only one who doesn't care that this human being wore this object or that one? I don't understand the logic of how people spend their money.

In 200 years are people going to be fighting over chess sets owned by the great grandmasters? Respectfully, I don't care who owned it, I'm not paying over $50 for a chess set and it better be a fancy one for that price.
Just an investment for the next time it's put up for sale, they should put a Cap on these Hat prices lol. :).
at least the hat has traveled and almost gone around the world for you, so it's worth the investment rather than risking a cruise))
It's an investment ... They don't drop any new Napoleon hats, so the hat can only be more rare and valuable.
I mean people buy 80 million $ stupid metal balloon dog statues

What this should make you realize is that there are people who are so stupidly wealthy buying a 3 million dollar napoleon hat is as much of an impact on their wealth as it is for you to go and buy dinner tomorrow.
A lump of carbon in a loose conglomerate of atoms is coal that has several uses and is worth perhaps a dollar.

A lump of carbon in a tight conglomerate of atoms is diamond that has several uses and is worth perhaps tens of thousands of dollars or more.
Maybe he bought the Hat for his Birthday or one of his 364 very merry un-Birthdays. :).

for a hat that has lived through the Berezina and Waterloo it is worth its price and it is indestructible!
