Petition to modify atomic chess rules!

i remember my match against vlad_00 in awc where most of the wins went to black haha.
but really this is a bit annoying in some cases, especially when you have to face nf3 nc3. Black ends up losing in an almost forced way.
the atomic 960 is interesting that would seek the true strength and understanding of the players.
(unless you are the fast tsunami and manage to play completely lost positions as black and still get a draw)

I think the horde variant too but the blacks have the advantage
I vote for introducing Atomic 960. It will truly test your atomic skills rather than your ability to memorise openings.

> The option to introduce Atomic 960 should be put on the table. Although some positions are not equal and may be more imbalanced, the fact that there are 960 positions make impossible to memorise openings and also make it harder in rapid time controls. In my experience this can make the game more close and skillish than normal position where at top level is well know to be even boring due to some easy positions where black can't gent anything at all like 1.Nf3, 2.Nc3. I think long-term this will attract more and more players to the "atomic" variant. Also it has been some tournaments in other websites of atomic 960 and it was well aceppted and people loved it overall.

Atomic960 is not a solution. While we played tourneys just for fun that worked well yeah, but in fact I think you underestimate number of unbalanced position in 960. I dont see any problem to remember winning lines in 100-200 positions for white so if lichess will add this variant it will be only a matter of time when strong players will destroy many positions with analyses and that would be worse than Nf3 Nc3 right now.

Hmmmm yeah, thats make a sense.

One solution could be to create a system where a player can create a seek for a 2 game match instead of one game at a time. You could prevent rating manipulation by adding/subtracting elo as if only one game was played, with the winner being the player with the higher score after 2 games

lol :)
Yeah, I've not played atomic for quite a few months. I guess it's somewhat a consensus that opening theory got to a point that you must know everything to even get a game as black, which is annoying. I actually like the suggestion of giving black the chance to switch colors if he wants on move 1 (or 2 maybe!?). Not perfect but would certainly slow the spam.
And as some people mentioned, even though atomic 960 has pretty imbalanced positions, at least people won't know it by heart. Also a good option in my opinion.
Whats wrong with the idea a draw is a win for black? That seems fair, in most positions black's best defense is drawing. And if you draw and you have white you should loose simple as that.
