This is my first posted game so I hope I did this right. It was close game I had to play very accurately and It could have gone either way. Has anyone here seen a rook used like this in the Ruy? I would appreciate your comments, advice , suggestions for mistakes I made ect. Thank you!

The pawn on a4 was weak; you only helped black with that move. 18. Kf1 is a very bad move! The corner is usually the safest place for the king. On f1 your king is very vulnerable. With 36. Qc7+ you miss a great opportunity. You had 36. e8=Q winning a piece for free. Don't give checks just because you can; a check plays important role in tactics. Keep your checks for a situation in which they are really useful. Sometimes a check is even a losing move.
