What stupid rules Lichess uses regarding draws on timeout

There are people who behave like defiant little children whose molds have been taken away in the sandbox. They are also not accessible to arguments, no matter how good and reasonable. No matter what you say. If you don't agree with the rules that a game has, you should stop playing the game.

Their rules are silly, I've gone and asked people in real life, telling them when your clock runs out in chess you lose, but this one game I had their clock ran out and because I only had one piece left they were saved and got a draw, do you think this is fair?

All of them so far have said no if the clock runs out they should lose.

I agree.

So I'm happy with that, it's just amazing that I actually get more sense from people who don't actually play chess as far as I know than I do from people who just want to worship so called rules that not only don't make sense but are inconsistent.

Well I suppose that's not true, there was one dude on here who said we don't follow our own rules regarding the clock.

But yeah I can see how asking FIDE would never work, people on here don't seem to understand once clock dies you die.

So I'll just end it here and hope not too many people in the future have this issue.

I probably could of pushed the issue with them and their rules, but people seem to be fine with weird rules so I guess I'll just leave it be.

I certainly am not fine with it though.

Anyway have a good one fam!

You wouldn't have success "pushing the issue" with FIDE. They would just tell you to learn how to play.

Yeah I know, the world is unreasonable quite often
This rule exists for good reason. This rule prevents a player who does not have enough material to win (to mate) from lifting the other player over time. And that uninfluenced by the time control. No matter if 5+0, 5+5 or 2 hours are played. This is unsportsmanlike. If a player in a game played with a classical time control (or any other time control) does not have enough material to win, the other player can claim a draw with the arbiter.
This rule is very useful, as it ensures fairness.

If you don't want to understand that, that's your problem.
